Yogi impact? Now, seven slaughterhouses shut down in Lalu Prasad’s Bihar

PATNA: The impact of UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s drive against slaughterhouses is now being felt in Bihar too.

Today, the police in Bihar shut down at least seven slaughterhouses said to be illegally-operating in Rohtas district, not very far away from Patna. All these abattoirs were being run in Bikramganj town.

Reports said a large of policemen hailing from seven police stations rushed to spot and sealed those slaughterhouses. Anti-riot vehicles were also rushed to the spot to meet any eventualities. However, nothing of that sort happened.

The action comes a week after the animal husbandry minister Awadhesh Kumar Singh ordered for closure of all illegally-running slaughterhouses in the state.

The animal husbandry minister has already asked all the district magistrates and the district superintendents of police to close down all illegally-running slaughter houses and also keep a close watch on those functioning with government permission.

As per an estimate, some 150 slaughterhouses are currently operating across the state of which only few are said to be legal.
