Will probe BJP’s role in Bihar floods, declares Lalu

PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad has blamed the rival Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for sudden floods in Bihar, causing massive destruction to lives and properties.

“The BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand discharged huge amount water into the rivers flowing through Bihar without intimating the government,” Prasad said alleging it was all done to cause massive destruction in Bihar.

He said the government in state would investigate the matter when the situation got back to normal.

“We will probe why and in what circumstances MP and Jharkhand released waters into the rivers flowing through Bihar,” Prasad announced.

Floods have affected over three million populations settled in 1,866 villages across 12 districts of Bihar over the past five days. It has also claimed 28 lives.

So far, more than 300,000 populations have been evacuated and put up in 274 relief centres set up by the state government.

The government has also pressed 1,918 boats into service to evacuate the trapped villagers.
