Warning signal for Nitish as huge crowd greets Lalu in Siwan braving incessant rains

PATNA: RJD chief Lalu Prasad today treated chief minister Nitish Kumar with disdain and sought to present him as the one who “ditches” his colleagues, apparently encouraged by huge crowd at his rally.

He made these remarks at a rally in Siwan, the hometown of incarcerated RJD politician Mohammad Shahabuddin on Sunday. This was his first rally since Nitish Kumar broke alliance with the Grand Alliance last month to form new government with the BJP.

Taking a dig at the chief minister, Prasad said, “Is Bheed mein koi ‘Nitish’ nahin hai, sab wafadar hai (There is no Nitish Kumar in the crowd, all are trustworthy)”, obliquely referring to how Nitish Kumar betrayed the people’s mandate by joining hands with the BJP and forming government with it although the Grand Alliance had been given the mandate to rule.

He alleged Kumar had hatched the plan to break alliance with three-party Grand Alliance after meeting BJP president Amit Shah.

“People will teach him a lesson for his betrayal. He will soon come to know who has the support of the masses,” he declared.

He also charged the chief minister with torturing Shahabuddin and said he is in jail owing to the conspiracy hatched by the JD-U-BJP combine. “He will come out of jail very jail,” he hoped.

Prasad said he would he better love to be hanged than surrendering before the “communal forces”.

The RJD president looked quite encouraged after watching impressive crowd at his rally. A huge crowd reached to hear him despite incessant rains in the region.
