Villagers assault man for trying to sell wife to brothel in Bihar


PATNA: Angry villagers in Bihar badly thrashed a man after they came to know he was going to sell his wife to a brothel. The police have arrested the accused. The bizarre incident took place in Darbhanga district on Wednesday.

Reports quoting local media said Sanjit Mishra was carrying his newly-wed wife in an auto-rickshaw to supply her into a brothel in Darbhanga town on Wednesday when the woman saw local villagers on the street and cried for help.

Listening to her cries, the villagers stopped the auto. Seeing the villagers, the woman started crying bitterly and sought for their help saying he was carrying her to supply to a local brothel.

Soon after coming to know about her shocking tale, the villagers lost cool and assaulted the man very badly before informing the local police.

The police soon rushed to the spot and arrested the man who was sent to jail later.

“The man has been arrested and sent to jail for his crime while the victim’s statements have been recorded in a local court,” a local senior police official Hari Kishore Yadav told the media on Friday.

According to the victim, she had been married with the man barely two months ago.
