PATNA: A powerful thunderstorm accompanied with rain and lightning hit Bihar Tuesday morning, claiming at least 10 lives.
The casualties were reported districts like Aurangabad, Lakhisarai, patna, Purnia, Darbhanga, Supaul and Araria, disaster management department sources said.

In a prompt action, the state government has announced compensation of Rs 400,000 to each victim family.
The storm also saw a portion of pontoon bridge built over river Ganga at Danapur drifted away, badly affecting traffic.
The thundersquall having velocity of 80 km/hour also disrupted power lines in the state and delayed flights and train services.
