PATNA: Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha today offered prayers at Mahabodhi temple at Bodh Gaya, holiest of holy place for the Buddhists across the globe.
Bodh Gaya located in the eastern Indian state of Bihar is a major place of pilgrimage for Buddhists.

Prayut, a retired Royal Thai Army officer who is the head of National Council for Peace and Order, a military junta, reached Bodh Gaya by a special aircraft and offered prayers at the Mahabodhi temple where Buddha got enlightenment in the 6th century BC.
He also mediated under the Bodhi tree adjacent to the temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for a while under heavy security cover.
Prayut who heads a high-level delegation comprising deputy Prime Minister, five senior ministers and a 46-member business team is currently on three-day visit to India. His three-day visit ends today.
During his stay in India, the Thai PM held extensive talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on a raft of issues, such as enhancing overall defence and security cooperation and the situation in the South China Sea.
