Eight kids die as school van collides with train in UP


At least eight children were killed and several others injured when a bus carrying school children collided with a train in Uttar Pradesh today.

The incident took place at Bhadohi district, sending shock waves in the areas.

As per reports, a total of 19 children were aboard the Ill-fated bus.

Media reports said the bus was passing through the unmanned crossing when it collided with the Allahabad-Varanasi passenger train in between Katka and Madhosingh railway stations in Bhadoi district.

Unmanned railway crossings have been taking a heavy toll of life every year in India.

Last year, more than 200 deaths had taken place due to unmanned crossing. Of them, 126 died till February itself, as per an official report.

Likewise, 98 people were killed in 2013-14 while 124 died in 2012-13, the Rajya Sabha was informed by Minister of State for railways Manoj Singh in March last year.
