Setback for BJP as top Yadav leader resigns from the party in Bihar

PATNA: A senior leader from Yadav community has resigned from the primary membership of the BJP, dealing a severe blow to the party’s move to make inroad in this politically powerful backward caste, according to media reports.

Ajay Yadav who happens to be the national president of the All India Yadav Mahasangh resigned from the party, irked the constant negligence of this caste. Yadav was also a member of BJP’s state working committee.

“Yadavs had joined the BJP at a time when none from this community wanted to support the party but their expectations were not fulfilled,” alleged Yadav.

“Let aside giving responsibility to this caste leaders in the party, they were always ignored,” he alleged.

The resignation comes at a time when the party is trying hard to get the support of the OBCs ahead of the next 2019 LS polls.

The NDA had won 32 seats out of Bihar’s total 40 in the last LS polls. But now it seems strong disenchantment has gripped the general voters which may prove disastrous for the party.
