Selfish children flee leaving behind mother in flooded home, NDRF rescues lady

PATNA: In a horrible story, selfish children fled their flooded home in Bihar to save their own lives, leaving behind their old mother.

The incident took place in Nakata diyara (riverine area) of Patna district on Saturday but was reported in the media only today.

As per reports, 85-year-old Sumitra Devi asked her children and daughter-in-laws to flee when the floodwaters entered their home on Saturday morning.

In the evening, her elder son Raju fled his home with his other family members while promising to bring her back soon but didn’t return.

Left with no option, the old remained alone in her flooded home, somehow surviving on drinking floodwater. She went on crying for help but none was there around to help.

In the meantime, an NDRF rescue team was happened to reach the village and it was only after then that the old woman’s life could be saved.
