PATNA: Authorities in Bihar have beefed up security in and around Mahabodhi Temple at Bodh Gaya, holiest of the holy shrine of the Buddhists across the globe in eastern Indian state of Bihar, in view of increasing crowd of the tourists.
As a significant step in this direction, the authorities have banned carrying mobile phones as well as any kind of bags inside the temple where Buddha is believed to have got enlightenment in the 6th century BC.

“We have banned carrying any electronic gadgets in the temple premises and have ordered the security personnel to be more vigilant keeping in view the expected crowd of the tourists,” a senior local official Ravi Shnakar Prasad has told the local media.
The temple which figures among the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site faces attacks from the terrorists.
The Buddhist shrine escaped major attacks in July 2013 after as many as nine serial blasts rocked the temple complex.
The pilgrimage town has witnessed sudden increase in number of tourists in view of tourist seasons. Their number is expected to rise further in view of the upcoming Kalchakra puja by the Buddhists monks and various Buddhist sects.
Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama is expected to attend the Kalchakra puja to start next month.
Authorities expect the arrival of more than 200,000 Buddhist monks and devotees to join this special prayer.
