PATNA: A senior RJD leader considered close to party president Lalu Prasad today joined the opposition camp in seeking a CBI probe into the infamous paper leak scandal in an embarrassment to the ruling Nitish Kumar government in Bihar.
Bihar shot into infamy after leaked question papers of a competitive examination conducted by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) went viral in the social media well before the test was to start.
“I support the opposition demand for a CBI probe into the scandal. This is a major scam which needs a thorough probe,” a senior RJD legislator Bhai Birendra told the media today.
Questioning the constitution of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the state government to inquire into the scam, the RJD leader said the state government should take the matter seriously when the opposition is pressing for a CBI inquiry.
The JD-U brushed aside the demand for CBI probe, describing it as an attempt to be in media limelight.
“I don’t care who says what but it is fact that our government neither saves nor implicates anyone,” chief minister Nitish Kumar told the media today adding the guilty would not be spared howsoever mighty they are.
All opposition parties in Bihar have sought for a CBI inquiry into the paper leak scandal citing the gravity of the crime and many political bigwigs allegedly involved in it.
“We want a CBI probe into the entire matter to let the truth out. There are reports of seven ministers, 29 legislators and nine IAS officers having been involved in the paper leak scandal.” Bihar opposition leader Prem Kumar has said.
