RJD announces to scrap ‘draconian’ provisions of liquor law if coming to power


PATNA: The RJD has described as exiting liquor law as “andha kanoon” (black law) and promised to scrap the ‘draconian” provisions made under it if the party comes to power in Bihar.

“The existing liquor law of the Nitish Kumar government is ‘andha kannon’. We will end the draconian provisions should the party comes to power in the state,” RJD’s national vice-president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh told the media today.

Right now, even recovery of empty liquor bottles amounts of 10 years imprisonment which is not fair, he said.

He said the RJD government would bring law which protects the rights of the masses and is “judicious”.

The JD-U mocked the RJD claim and accused the latter of “funding the liquor Mafiosi”.
