Residents panicky as meteorological dept issues fresh alert for heavy rains in Patna


While around six population in Patna are still battling to come to terms with their homes flooded in rain waters, meteorological department on Wednesday issued alert for another spell of heavy rains in Bihar, including Patna. This has left the resident panicky.

Authorities said the meteorological department has issued alert for heavy rains in four districts, such as Patna, Begusarai, Khagaria and Vaishali in the next 48 hours.

“Bihar: Orange alert issued in Patna, Vaishali, Begusarai and Khagaria districts for October 3 and 4. #BiharRains,” tweeted ANI on Wednesday.

Rains have turned Patna into a veritable hell. Quite many localities such as like Rajendra Nagar, Kankarbagh, Bahadurpur, SK Puri and Patel Nagar still remain flooded, forcing the residents stay indoors and causing crisis of essential commodities.

Potable water too is scarcely available to them while the government’s reliefs have not reached many still trapped in their flooded homes.

Authorities have launched relief and rescue operations but many residents complained no government relief had reached them so far adding they had been left to their fate.

According to an official reports, floods have killed a total of 42 persons in Bihar so far. Disaster management minister Lakshmeshwar Rai said most of the deaths have been reported from Bhagalpur, Gaya, Patna  Kaimur, Khagaria and Bhojpur.
