Consumption of refined oil blocking human’s arteries: experts at cardiologists meet


PATNA: Consumption of refined oil is blocking the arteries of human beings, according to heart specialists.

The startling revelation was made at the “Cardicon 2017”, the annual conference of Cardiological Society of India, Bihar chapter. The two-two conference attended my eminent cardiologists from across the country and abroad concluded on Sunday.

“Previously, people in India were primarily dependent on mustard oil and hence they were healthy,” a leading doctor from AIIMS, Delhi, Dr Rakesh Yadav was quoted by a local daily as saying at the conference.

According to him, till recently, the people didn’t know about refined oil but today its consumption has registered manifold increase.

“Some six to seven inorganic chemicals are used to refine oil while in case of its double refine, the number of chemicals used for the purpose go up to 10 to 12. To add fragrance, protein is removed from the oil. These chemicals badly affect our arteries and harm the bodies,” Dr Yadav explained.

He suggested the people to use raw mustard oil, ‘kachi ghani’ mustard oil or coconut oil to stay healthy.

At the meet, the experts expressed concerns over high incidence of heart attacks and stressed the need for preventive aspects of the disease.
