Mumbai: The deteriorating relation between India and Pakistan has claimed one more victim, this time Karan Johar’s film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which may not be screened at theatres during the Diwali weekend as planned, according to media reports on Friday.
The Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) is urging its members to refrain from screening films starring Pakistani actors and has already informed its members in four states — Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Karnataka, media reported.
Nitin Datar, president of COEAI, said that other states are also being informed of their decision.
Pakistani actor Fawad Khan stars in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which also includes actors Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Anushka Sharma among others.
“Keeping in mind the patriotic feeling and the national interest in mind, we request all our member exhibitors to refrain from screening movies which have involvement of any Pakistani artists, technicians, directors, music directors, etc. Till the relation between India and Pakistan becomes normal, no films with Pakistani actors can be released,” Datar was quoted as saying in The Times of India.
