PATNA: Motorcycle-borne criminals shot dead a prominent RJD leader in Bihar on Thursday morning, sparking strong protests in the areas. The incident took place in Samastipur district on Thursday morning.
Police said the victim Raghubar Rai had gone out for morning walk when the criminals pumped four bullets into him.
The critically-wounded Rai was immediately rushed to the local government hospital where he was declared having brought dead.
The killing of the RJD leader sparked strong protests in the areas as the angry villagers blocked traffic, registering protests and demanding arrest of the criminals.
The RJD leader and Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav attacked the Nitish Kumar government over a spate of political killings in the state and mocked the government’s claim over law and order situation.
“What’s the meaning of you being in charge of home department when the crime situation has gone out of control?” asked Tejashwi from chief minister Kumar, alleging the opposition leaders were being selectively killed.
The rampaging criminals have also killed as many as four leaders from Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) in recent months.
