PATNA: In a stern message to Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, Congress today said party’s national vice-president Rahul Gandhi would be the prime ministerial candidate in the next Lok Sabha polls.
Congress with 27 lawmakers in Bihar assembly is a coalition partner of the Nitish Kumar government.

“The Congress will go to polls under the leadership of Sri Rahul Gandhi,” state Congress president and education minister Ashok Chaudhary told the media today.
He made this announcement at a joint press conference of the three coalition partners in the office of the RJD.
The announced left the JD-U grim-faced, witnesses said, as the party fumbled for explanations.
“The next elections are still very far and any decision relating to the issue will be taken only at that time,” remarked state JD-U chief Vashishtha Narayan Singh.
Of late, the JD-U has been constantly trying hard to project Kumar as the prime ministerial candidate for the next LS polls.
