The officials whose pensions have been held up include Dr Krishna Kumar, veterinary doctor, Dr Radha Krishna Sahay, regional joint director, Dr Parimal Chakravarti, district animal husbandry officer, Dr Dilnarayan Chaudhary, additional divisional animal husbandry officer and artificial insemination officer Dr Kunwar Prasad.
The animal husbandry department in Bihar has been quite notorious for its activities.
However, the department concerned hit the headlines in mid 1990’s when a multi-million dollar fodder scam involving senior politicians, such as Lalu Prasad and Dr Jagannath Mishra, surfaced.
Prasad was the chief minister of Bihar when the scam surfaced. The scam led to his resignation from the post and the subsequent jailing.
