Official puts up no-bribe poster in his office, says ‘I am uncorrupted’


PATNA: An electricity department official in southern Indian state of Telangana has become an overnight hero for his unique style of fighting corruption.

The electricity department engineer identified as Podeti Ashok has put up a poster in official chamber declaring “I don’t take bribe, I am uncorrupted”.

The official says his only objective is to discourage the people from paying bribe to the officers as they normally do for their works.

“I want to tell the people that their work can be done even without paying bribe. So they should not offer money as bribe,” the official told the media.

The move has drawn huge praise from all quarters but the official claims it’s not an attempt to draw media attention or become a hero.

The small initiate has come as “ray of hope” for the general masses at a time when flourishing corruption in government offices has become a matter of serious concern. Despite all attempts by the government, corruption goes on unchecked.
