Nitish snubs Junior Modi, says his party’s stand on Article 370 is very much clear

Modi had urged the traditional parties to reconsider their stand on the very isue


PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday said his party’s stand on Article 370 of the Constitution remains unchanged.

“Our party’s stand over this issue (Article 370) is very clear and known to all,” Nitish Kumar who heads the ruling Janata Dal United (JD-U) told the media on Friday.

The remarks assume much political significance as it come hours after his deputy, Sushil Kumar Modi of the BJP, had urged the political parties traditionally keeping soft approach towards Article 370 to reconsider their stand.

“When the masses handed out the mandate to the BJP for its tough stands over abrogation of Article 370 and separatist forces, the traditional parties keeping soft approach towards them should reconsider their stand,” Modi had tweeted on Thursday.

The JD-U today made it clear the party’s stand is very much clear on Article 370 and that it is the issues which rather concerns the BJP, not the JD-U.

“The JD-U won’t support the BJP over it,” JD-U minister Shyam Rajak told the media on Friday.

The RJD wondered if Sushil Kumar Modi was authorized by the Prime Minister or the Home Minister to launch a campaign in support of removing Article 370 of the Constitution.
