PATNA: Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi today hit out at his successor Nitish Kumar, accusing him of playing “double politics”.
Manjhi whose Hindustani Awam Morcha is part of the NDA launched attacks on Kumar shortly after he joined the lunch thrown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday while skipping the lunch hosted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi a day back, citing his “busy official schedule”.
“Nitish’s joining the PM’s feast is full of politics and people are quite aware of this. He wants to extract political benefits from the BJP in the days to come and that’s why he wants to be in touch with the PM without severing ties with the UPA,” remarked Manjhi.
“On the one hand he sends his representative to the meeting called by Sonia Gandhi to prove he is with the UPA, on the other he himself joins the feast hosted by the PM to show his loyalty towards the NDA as well. He wants to get benefits from both sides but he will not be successful in his attempt,” predicted Manjhi.
According to him, those sailing on two boats are bound to sink anytime. If Manjhi is to be believed, Nitish finds himself in race for both the PM and the President and hence he wants to maintain his ‘closeness’ with both camps.
