Nitish opposing demonetization as he failed to get desired response from NDA: Manjhi

PATNA: Why Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has suddenly made a dramatic U-turn on his stand towards demonetization drive launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi?

His predecessor and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) president Jitan Ram Manjhi claims having the answer for this question.

“Nitish Kumar initially tried hard to get his entry into the NDA and hence he supported the currency ban. Now, he is opposing the note ban as he failed to get desired response from the NDA camp,” Manjhi claimed.

“This is the reason why grapes have now turned sour for Nitish Kumar,” explained Manjhi.

Kumar made a sudden U-turn on Friday when he said “I am against black money but don’t agree with the way the note ban has been implemented. The move has not achieved the desired goals.”

He also asked the government to reveal what it has achieved by demonetization.

Strangely, the JD-U was only the second opposition party after Biju Janata Dal to support the notes ban.

The JD-U went on supporting the notes ban even as both its allies, the RJD of Lalu Prasad and the Congress, strongly opposed it on the streets.

The RJD chief Prasad in the meanwhile feels both he and his colleague Kumar have similar ideology.

“Both of them have been strongly opposing the BJP since beginning. Even during student life, both of us were supporters of Jaiprakash Narayan,” said Prasad.
