Nitish Kumar’s JD-U to oppose triple talaq bill in Rajya Sabha too
THE JD-U HAS ALRAEADY OPPOSED THE BILL IN THE LS ON THURSDAY
PATNA: After opposing the Triple Talq Bill in the Lok Sabha, the JD-U has now announced to oppose it in the Rajya Sabha as well. The JD-U has six members in the Rajya Sabha.
The JD-U headed by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar says the Bill is not acceptable to the party in the present form.
“We will oppose the Bill in the Rajya Sabha too if it is brought in the current form,” JD-U general secretary KC Tyagi has told the media.
He said the law was being forcibly thrust upon the society which would ultimately create distrust in relationship between husband and wife.
The JD-U has described Triple talaq as a social issue which, it says, should be resolved through discussions, rather than bringing a law.
The JD-U further announced it would continue opposing the controversial issues, such as abrogation of Article 370 and implementation of Uniform Civil Code while it wants to resolve the Ayodhya issue through mutual consent or court’s intervention.
