Nitish Kumar has betrayed secular forces, alleges Left

PATNA: The left parties in Bihar have wondered over the sudden move of Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United to lend support to the BJP-led NDA’s presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind and accused it weakening the secular forces in the country.

“So far, he (Nitish Kumar) was talking about the opposition unity but suddenly he announced his support to the NDA candidate. We didn’t expect so…He has betrayed the secular forces in the country,” said CPI’s state secretary Satya Narayan Singh.

He alleged the JD-U had tried to weaken the opposition unity by deciding to back the NDA candidate. “This is dangerous for Indian democracy,” Singh added.

The CPI-ML launched even more vituperative attacks on the chief minister, describing him as a “RSS agent”.

“By supporting Kovind, Nitish Kumar has tried to maintain old friendship with the BJP. One got a clear hint of this when he supported the centre’s demonetization drive,” remarked CPI-ML secretary Kunal.

“Nitish Kumar is a hardcore RSS man,” he alleged.

The left mounted attacks on the chief minister a day after the JD-U announced to support the NDA’s presidential candidate at the end of party’s meeting held in Patna held on Wednesday.
