PATNA: The opposition BJP today charged the ruling Nitish Kumar government in Bihar with threatening schoolchildren to join the human chain against alcoholism.
“The state government has resorted to barbaric tricks to force school children join the human chain. The education departments authorities have issued orders forcing the children to compulsorily participate in the programme or else their admission will be canceled,” senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi alleged today.

He said the BJP supports the human chain but “forcing the schoolchildren to join it and closing road traffic for five hours in the whole of state in the name of programme is totally unfair.”
He alleged instead of creating awareness about prohibition, the chief minister is working overtime to brand his image through this event.
He further alleged the Anganwadi Sevikas, Shika mitras, vikas mitras, and Panchaya officials were being coerced to participate in the programme or they would be implicated in false cases and their salary would also be deducted.
The state government has claimed more than 20 million people would participate in world’s longest human chain to be formed on January 21.
