Nitish is ‘Captain’ until BJP comes out with new face for Bihar: Ram Vilas Paswan
LJP CHIEF TAKES U-TURN BARELY HOURS AFTER SUPPORTING NITISH
PATNA: Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan has hinted at the fast-changing political situation in Bihar where elections are to be held in 2020.
In an interview to a national newspaper, Paswan who heads the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) said chief minister Nitish Kumar is NDA’s chief ministerial candidate until the BJP comes out with its own “Captain” for Bihar.
“Nitish Kumar is out Captain and he will continue unless if the BJP decides to bring in a different captain,” Paswan said in an interview to The Hindu newspaper.
The change in his stand comes barely two days after he had strongly backed Nitish Kumar for NDA’s CM face and later his son Chirag Paswan too lent his support.
The debates about the change in NDA’s chief ministerial candidate for Bihar have been doing the rounds for quite some time.
However, it started after a senior BJP leader and former Union minister Sanjay Paswan advised Nitish Kumar to quit the throne for the BJP and focus on national politics.
Quite many BJP leaders have come out in support of Paswan saying the BJP has been supporting Nitish since 2005 and now he must give the BJP a chance.
The JD-U which chief minister Nitish Kumar heads looks in no mood to consider this demand of the BJP.
A JD-U spokesperson Sanjay Singh has even termed Sanjay Paswan as “mentally sick” for making this demand and said “Nitish Kumar will be the chief minister till then the people want”.
