PATNA: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports about numerous casualties and injuries in the clashes between the protestors and the security forces in the Jammu & Kashmir valley.
Expressing serious concern over the developments, the NHRC has also issued notices to the Union Home Secretary and the Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, seeking for reports in the matter.

The authorities have been given two week-time to respond.
“The Commission is closely watching the incidents of violence in the aftermath of the killing of alleged militant Burhan Wani in an encounter with the security forces on July 8,” a spokesman of the NHRC said a Press statement issued today.
