PATNA: Angry NDA legislators today matched to the Raj Bhawan seeking dismissal of Bihar excise minister Abdul Jalil Mastan who was caught on camera inciting the crowd to beat PM’s photograph with shoes.
The lawmakers walked to the Raj Bhwan on foot after their angry protests led to the adjournment of the House earlier in the day.
The march was led by former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
“This is not a normal incident. We will meet the Governor requesting him to direct the chief minister to dismiss his colleague from the cabinet,” Modi told the media while leading the march.
The BJP has already registered a case against the minister and announced to stage a state-wide ‘dharna’ in Bihar on March 4.
Mastan has come in the firing line of the opposition after the video clip of his inflammatory speech went viral in the media.
In the video, the minister is heard using uncharitable words against the PM and then asking the crowd gathered at his party rally to hit his photograph with shoes. Subsequently, the crowd is seen hitting the photograph of the PM placed on a chair on the dais with shoes.
The incident took place on February 22 during a Congress rally held in Purnia district to protest centre’s demonestisation drive.
