Murder case witness burnt to death in Bihar ahead of court appearance

PATNA: Unidentified miscreants burnt a murder case witness to death in Bihar lastnight, sparking anger among the villagers.

The horrible incident took place at Narawat village under Atari police station in Gaya district.

The victim Upendra Pandey who was physically challenged was alone in the house when the unidentified miscreants set his house on fire, killing him on the spot.

“I had gone to the town to bring medicines for him on Tuesday night. When I returned home on Wednesday morning, I found his half-burnt body lying on the bed,” victim’s wife Chinta Devi told the police after the incident.

The victim was a witness in the murder of a co-villager Gore Lal Yadav who was killed in 2015.

The victim was burnt to death a day before he was to appear in the court to record his statement in a local court.

The police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
