PATNA: This is something which none had expected.
At least six policemen were injured when a group of Buddhist monks attacked the cops while they were trying to remove illegal encroachments by a Buddhist monastery. The incident took place at Bodh Gaya in Bihar on Wednesday evening.

Acting on a complaint by local villagers that a Cambodian temple had encroached upon six acres of government land in Bakraur panchayat and was constructing its monetary there, a team of police rushed there to remove encroachments.
Reports said the seeing the police, the monks allegedly attacked them with bamboo sticks and also tried to torch a JCB machine after smashing its glass.
The Buddhists also held the cops hostage for hours. They were released only after the additional forces rushed to the spot.
The injured cops were later admitted to a local health center for treatment.
Reports said the police had rushed to the spot as the temple authorities refused to remove encroachments despite repeated notices served on them.
