Modi: ‘World should walk on path of peace…War brings only transient greatness’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said strong India-Vietnam partnership would lead to prosperity, development, peace, and stability in the region.

The PM is currently on two-day tour of Vietnam. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to have visited Vietnam in the past 15 years.

“As partners, we must take advantage of our synergies to jointly face emerging regional challenges and also to exploit new opportunities,” the PM said, speaking at luncheon banquet.

He said the “World should walk on the path of peace that brings happiness and prosperity, while war only brings transient greatness.

Earlier in the day, India and Vietnam today signed 12 agreements in a wide range of areas covering defence, IT, space, double taxation and sharing white shipping information.

The agreements were signed by officials of the two sides in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc, PTI reported today.

“12 for togetherness! India & Vietnam sign a dozen agreements for further strengthening the Strategic Partnership,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted on Saturday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has attached higher priority to bilateral relations with Vietnam.
