Man carries son’s body home on shoulder after Bihar hospital denies ambulance
The shocking incident took place in home district of chief minister Nitish Kumar
PATNA: A man in Bihar carried his eight-year-old son’s body home on his shoulder after the hospital refused to provide him ambulance.
The shocking incident took place in Nalanda, the home district of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, on Tuesday.
Reports quoting local media said that the child had fallen unconscious while riding cycle and was rushed to a government Sadar hospital where he was declared brought dead. The victim was a resident of Sita Bigha in Parwalpur block.
After his child’s death, the victim’s father sought ambulance from the hospital but when refused he brought his body home carrying it on his shoulder.
The district magistrate, Nalanda, Yogendra Singh while taking the matter seriously has sought clarification from the local civil surgeon. He also announced stern action against officials found guilty of negligence during the course of investigation.
Such incident was reported previously in the past as well when a man had to carry son’s body on a motorbike.
The incident comes close on the heels of deaths of large number of children from suspected encephalitis in Muzaffarpur and around for which health department has come in for sharp criticisms.
More than 170 children are reported to have killed by the suspected encephalitis in Bihar so far, as per reports in the local media.
