Late night raid at Patna jail recovers Maoists’ red diary among many objectionable items

PATNA: The police today recovered many objectionable items during an intensive raids conducted at Beur central jail in Patna in the wee hours today.

The raiding team was led by Patna’s senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj himself.

Reports said the raids which began shortly past midnight completed at 6 in the morning during which the police recovered seven cell phones, chargers, ear phones, electric wires and cannabis.

What though surprised the raiding party was the recovery of a red-coloured diary from the jail ward of a dreaded Maoist Ajay Kanu. Reports said the diary contains list of persons from whom levy has been recovered or is to be recovered.

The sudden raids follow an intelligence inputs in the light of Republic Day function. All the prisoners were sleeping when the raids were launched, as per reports.

Earlier the police had raided this jail in October last year during which the jail cell housing 10 IM terrorists were extensively searched.

The terrorists are accused of being involved Bodh Gaya serial blasts and Patna’s Gandhi Maidan blasts.
