Lalu’s son accuses rivals of ‘letting out ghosts’ in his bungalow, vacates

PATNA: Former Bihar health minister Te Pratap Yadav has finally vacated the government bungalow saying it was “haunted” and accused his political rivals of “letting out ghosts” there.

Yadav who is the elder son of incarcerated Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad was allotted this palatial bungalow soon after he became a minister in the erstwhile Grand Alliance government where his party was a coalition partner.

Call it a coincidence or otherwise, a series of troubles began soon after he moved into the bungalow. The trouble included surfacing of soil scam leading to confiscation of land upon which his family was constructing Bihar’s biggest mall, registration of cases against his family members in the land-for-railway hotel scam, the Supreme Court ordering for speedy trial in the fodder scam cases in which his father is an accused and eventually fall of the Grand Alliance government after chief minister Nitish Kumar switched sides and fromed his new government with the opposition Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

As troubles continued surfacing at frequent intervals, Yadav brought certain changes in his house and got bungalow’s south-facing gate shut after consulting vastu shastra (the Indian science of architecture) experts who asked him to use the rear gate of his residence.

It was soon followed by performing of a ritual called ‘dushman maaran jaap’ (chant of hymns to eliminate enemies) in his bungalow in June 2017 while his family members under the scanner of the central agencies for corruption charges, media reports said.

As all these rituals failed to “bring peace in his life”, Yadav eventually vacated the bungalow earlier this week, labeling it as a “Haunted house”.

“I vacated the bungalow because Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi had released ghosts in it. The ghosts were haunting me,” Yadav told the media.

However, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) rubbished his claim terming it sheer non-sense. “Tej Pratap Yadav suffers from acute attention deficiency and is trying to hog media limelight,” said a NDA leader.
