Lalu’s new worry: How to ensure victory of his son-in-law in UP elections


PATNA: It’s now official. RJD president Lalu Prasad will kick off the Uttar Pradesh poll campaign from Wednesday.

While talking to newsmen in Patna, Prasad today said he will start his poll campaign from Secunderabad constituency in Bulandshahar district from where his son-in-law Rahul Yadav is in fray.

Yadav who is married to Prasad’s fourth daughter Ragini, is contesting on Samajwadi Party (SP) ticket.

As per his plan, he will address three election meetings in Secunderabad in support of his son-in-law. In fact, ensuring victory of his son-in-law remains the major worry of the RJD president in the faction-ridden SP, his close aides say.

The next phase of his campaign schedule will chalked out depending upon his requirement in the UP.

The SP which is headed by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is contesting the elections in alliance with the Congress this time. SP is the ruling party in UP.

RJD is not contesting the assembly elections in UP this time and instead has decided to support the SP-Congress alliance against the BJP.
