PATNA: The Narendra Modi government at the Centre has accorded ‘Y’ category security cover to Bihar health minister Tej Pratap Yadav.
Yadav is eldest son of RJD president Lalu Prasad, former chief minister and union railway minister.
“Y” category has a security cover of 11 personnel, including one or two Commandos plus police personnel.
“The Union Home Ministry has issued orders in this regard after central security agencies prepared a report which stated perceptible threat to Yadav including that from the Maoist cadres active in the state and neighbouring Jharkhand,” news agency PTI said quoting unnamed officials.
Yadav claims to be devotees of Krishna whom he calls as his descendant.
The ‘Y’ category cover is the third category of protection cover, after ‘Z+’ and ‘Z’, but higher than the lowest ‘X’ where about 4-5 commandos guard the VIP.
Yadav’s father Prasad currently enjoys ‘Z+’ cover of personnel drawn from the central forces of NSG and CRPF, as per reports.
