PATNA: RJD president Lalu Prasad today appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in connection with a fodder scam case today.
His appearance comes in the wake of a CBI special court’s order asking all the 38 accused persons in the case for their personal appearance.
The summons were issued after it was found that most of the accused persons had been evading personal appearance.
The case pertains to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 33.1 million from a Jharkhand treasury
The next date of hearing has been fixed on June 29.
The fodder scam cases have cost Prasad dear. He has already been convicted in a fodder scam case which has brought curtains down on his active political career.
During his active political career spanning over four decades, Prasad served the nation in different capacities, such state legislator, Leader of Opposition, Member of Parliament and Chief Minister of Bihar.
He is currently on bail.
