PATNA: A 33-year-old woman in West Bengal had her fingers chopped off by some villagers merely after her cow strayed into their field and ate some grains.
The horrible incident took place in Malda district of West Bengal in the weekend, prompting the police to register a case against the accused persons.

The local media reported angry villagers stripped the woman and thrashed her badly before chopping off fingers from her left hand with a sickle when she tried to save her cow being beaten by her neighbours.
Reports said the two legs of the cow were also fractured in the brutal attack.
“I can’t imagine people stripped my wife and tried to kill her,” the victim’s husband was quoted as saying in English daily Hindustan Times today.
The woman with severe cut injuries has been admitted to the Malda Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
