Indian govt to distribute free condoms among villagers to check population boom


PATNA: The Indian Health Ministry has planned to distribute condoms in around 150 districts across the country to check population boom.

As per the plan, the contraceptive will be distributed in 146 districts across seven high-focus states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Assam, where fertility rate is believed to be 3 or more, India TV reported on Friday.

According to reports, the government has planned to place condom boxes at locations such as health facilities and Gram Panchayat Bhavan.

“Mission Parivar Vikas launched in mission mode is aimed at strengthening services in 146 high-focus high-fertility districts in seven most populous states of our country,” Health Minister J P Nadda was quoted as saying at a Press conference by the news channel.
