PATNA: The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved the proposal to revise salaries and pensions of the government employees.
The move is set to benefit around ten million government employees.

According to the government estimate, the pay commission award will cost the exchequer Rs1.14 trillion ($16.88 billion) in 2016/17.
The Seventh Pay Commission had recommended a 23.55 percent increase in pay, pension and allowances.
The previous Sixth Pay Commission had recommended a 20 percent hike which the government doubled while implementing it in 2008.
