PATNA: The new chief justice of Patna High Court Justic Rajendra Menon has expressed strong ‘annoyance’ over alleged misuse of Public Interest Litigations (PILs).
“High Court is not for constructing roads or cleaning drains. This is the duty of municipal corporations,” Justice Menon reportedly observed shortly after being sworn in as the new chief justice of the Patna High Court on Wednesday.

He made these observations while hearing a PIL concerning civic issues.
The chief justice said there are large numbers of cases pending in the courts and they need to be disposed off first.
On his first day in office, the new chief justice sought a reply from the state government as well as the state pollution control board about the steps taken to check sound pollution. Both have been asked to file their reply within four weeks.
The local media has reported the family members of Justice Menon too were present in the courtroom when he heard the case on his first day as the chief justice.
