Reports said seeing the criminals, the villagers started fleeing but the attackers beat them up by giving them a hot chase.

They didn’t spare the female members either and mercilessly rained lathi blows on them ignoring their appeals for mercy.

Local media today reported that the goons dragged the women by their hairs and hit them hard with bamboo sticks. Several women have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment after sustaining severe wounds.

It is also alleged the local police initially refused to register complaint of the victims and chased them away by hurling abuses on them.

The police acted only when the matter reached the local district superintendent of police who taking cognizance of the footage asked the police to record statements of the victims and arrest the culprits.
