Amritsar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the ‘Heart of Asia’ conference here on Sunday.
Modi reached Amritsar on Saturday.
Along with Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, who is also visiting the north Indian city, the PM visited the Golden Temple and also served ‘Langar’ at the temple.
In a significant development, top Pakistani official Sartaz Aziz reached Amritsar Saturday evening much ahead of schedule.
According to media reports, Pakistan had earlier confirmed its de factor foreign minister Aziz would reach Amritsar to participate in the conference only on Sunday and leave the same evening.
As many as 40 countries are participating in the conference which was launched in 2011 to encourage security, political and economic cooperation between Afghanistan and its neighbours, reports said.
