Gopalganj businessman’s daughter kidnapped for Rs1 crore ransom recovered

PATNA: Police on late Tuesday night recovered a class four schoolgirl hours after the criminals kidnapped her for ransom and then sought a ransom of Rs 1 crore (Rs 10 million) in lieu of her release.

The incident took place in Gopalganj district of Bihar. Gopalganj is the home district of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.

The girl who is enrolled in a local DAV school was returning home after the classes were over when the criminals kidnapped her at gun-point, reports said.

When the daughter did not return in the evening, victim’s father called up the school authorities but told the bus carrying the student has already dropped her.

In the meanwhile, the kidnappers called up the victim’s father Pradeep Barnwal on his cell phone and sought a ransom of Rs 10 million in lieu of his safe release.

He immediately informed the police which got into the job and began conducting raids, leading the recovery of the victim some five hours after she had been kidnapped.

Victim’s father is a prominent trader dealing in the business of iron and resides in Badi Bazar locality of Gopalganj district.
