All the Dalits who had converted to Christianity belonged to Chaugain village under Dumraon sub-division in Buxur district, prompting the authorities to order an inquiry into the conversion.
The local media has reported the conversion which began four months back picked up momentum after a local villager Moti Mushar embraced the new faith out of repeated troubles in the family.
“After embracing the new religious, I got out of all troubles in the family and also superstitious beliefs. Now my family is leading a happy life,” Yogendra Mushar quoted Moti as having told them.
The development led to a mad rush among the Dalit community to join the new faith and in the past four months, around 500 Dalit villagers have embraced Christianity, reports said.
