Friends Lalu and Nitish differ again – this time over GST

PATNA: Two friends have differed again—this time over the issue of GST which is scheduled to come into force from July 1.

As per reports, the JD-U led by chief minister Nitish Kumar has decided to attend the special session of parliament to be held on Friday night over the issue.

However, the RJD headed by Lalu Prasad has decided to boycott it. Significantly, the portfolio of the finance minister lies with the RJD.

“RJD had supported the GST earlier but later it was found that the BJP-led government at the centre has changed it. We will not be part of it,” a RJD leader was quoted as telling news agency IANS on Thursday.

The two partners have already taking a different line over the issue of presidential elections.

While the JD-U has backed the NDA’s candidate Ram Nath Kovind, RJD is supporting opposition’s Meira Kumar.
