Former Delhi minister Jitender Singh Tomar’s law degree cancelled

PATNA: An academic institute in Bihar today cancelled the law degree of former Delhi Law Minister and AAP leader Jitender Singh Tomar who was arrested last year for possessing “fake” degree.

This is another embarrassment to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal whose around 30 percent of total lawmakers have already been arrested on various charges.

The Examination Board of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University cancelled Tomar’s degree after an internal inquiry conducted by the university found it “fake”.

“The examination board of the university found true the findings of an interim committee constituted earlier on Tomar’s degree and recommended cancellation of the degree,” Pro Vice Chancellor AK Rai was quoted as telling the PTI.

The university administration is now considering to cancel the affiliation of Vishwa Nath Singh Institute for Legal Studies, Munger from where Tomar had got his certificate.

Tomar claimed to have enrolled in this law institute for the academic session 1994-97. He was issued the degree in 2012.

Tomar was arrested and later released on bail last year in the Law degree issue. Later, he had to resign from the Kejriwal ministry.
