PATNA: Hearing on the bail petition of jailed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad was deferred for the third time in a month on Friday.
The Jharkhand High Court was to hear his case today (November 29) but it was deferred due to the death of an advocate. Now, his case will be heard of December 6.
On November 22 too, this case had been deferred for similar reason—death of a lawyer.
Earlier on November 8, this came had come up for hearing but the court of justice Apresh Kumar Singh deferred the case till November 22.
The court had earlier sought a reply from the CBI probing the fodder scam cases against Lalu Prasad after which the investigating agency even submitted its reply to the court but now, the hearing on this case gets deferred due to unavoidable reasons.
Lalu Prasad who is lodged in Ranchi jail for the past two years has sought bail from the court on the grounds of his growing age and ill health.
Prasad’s lawyers contend that their client had spent more than half the tenure of imprisonment in jail and hence he is eligible for bail.
