PATNA: Close to 85,000 people have fallen sick by the recent spate of floods in Bihar.
Right now, 12 districts out of state’s total 38 are in the grip of floods.

According to a report of the health department, of the total 84, 961 people falling sick, 30,000 have been suffering from fever and headache alonee.
Report further said that majority of these cases have been reported from five districts which include Patna, Katihar, Munger, Vaishali and Bhojpur. The report was collected between august 21 and August 26.
Taking the matter seriously, state health secretary Jitendra Srivastava has ordered the civil surgeons of the flood-affected districts to urgently provide for halogen tablets, bleaching powers and lime for purification of waters.
Floods have brought untold miseries to the villagers with their homes submerged in waters and residents forced to take shelter atop rooftops or in relief camps to escape floods.
What’s more the stagnant water has also caused health problems to them.
