Ferry catches fire on new year day in Indonesia, 23 killed

Jakarta: A ferry caught fire off the Indonesian coast, killing at least 23 people, media reports said on Sunday.

The Zahro Express ferry was carrying more than 230 people to Tidung island, a resort some 50km (30 miles) from the capital, Jakarta, BBC reported.

An official told BBC Indonesia that 194 people were rescued.

More than 10 people are still missing, reports said.
